Specify each fixture against these six checkpoints before issuing the order:
1. Scale to ceiling height and room size
Size the diameter to the room, not the budget. The standard convention adds the room's length and width in feet and uses that total in inches as the chandelier diameter — a 16 × 20 ft room suits a fixture near 36 inches. Over a dining or banquet table, scale to the table instead: one-half to two-thirds of the table width.
2. Drop length for the space
Set the drop to the architecture. Over a table at an 8-foot ceiling, hang the fixture 30–36 inches above the surface. In a double-height lobby, stairwell, or void, a cascading fixture should fill roughly 50–70% of the vertical space so it reads from upper floors.
3. Clearance and safety
Keep at least 7 feet (84 inches) from the floor to the lowest point of any fixture in a walkable area. Coordinate the lowest crystal against doors, reception desks, and circulation paths so no guest meets it at head height.
4. Fixture weight and structure
Confirm structure before ordering, not after.
